Abu Dhabi started today enforcing a new set of rules on speed limits on all the roads of Abu Dhabi by re-setting speed cameras in concurrence with recommendation of a study conducted earlier.
The new rules will be accompanied by several procedures, including placing of new road signs and adding a red layer to the areas where motorists are supposed to reduce their speed to alert them ahead of entering residential areas.
Brigadier Hussain Ahmad Al-Harithi, director of Abu Dhabi Traffic and Patrols Department at Abu Dhabi Police urged the motorists to adhere to the new speed limits that went on force as of today.
The new speed limits will be clearly written on the signs in all roads in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region.
Al Harithi said the changes were being made after extensive studies on the traffic requirements of the emirate in the next decade to ensure road safety.
